About the Chair

The chair is involved in teaching, scientific research and professional work in the fields of cartography, photogrammetry and remote sensing as well as research in map design and map use, cartographic methodology and technology, topographic and non-topographic photogrammetric measurements using terrestrial and aerial systems. The chair has strong relations with many foreign universities (ETH Zurich, TU Vienna, TU Dresden, TU Munich, University of Udine, Geodetic faculty Zagreb, University of Sarajevo, etc.) and many other institutions in Slovenia (Ministry of Defence, Surveying and Mapping Authority, Geodetic Institute, Scientific Research Center of Slovenian Academy of Science and Art and others). The researchers have been involved in many national and international research projects. The chair members are active representatives in ICA and ISPRS.

Dušan Petrovič, Assistant Professor of Cartography at the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, is head of the chair. His main research fields are topographic cartography, methods for producing and updating maps, map use and users' response in cartographic presentations, creating and designing 3D maps. He started his career in 1994 at Geodetic institute of Slovenia where he was responsible for the establishment of national cartographic system of Slovenia. He finished PhD in 2001, from 2002 is employed at the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering as professor of Cartography. He is national representative in International cartographic Association (ICA) and member of ICA Commission.

Mojca Kosmatin Fras is an Assistant Professor of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. She received her PhD in 2003. She is a national delegate and an active member of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). In 2008 she received the President's citation for contributions to Technical Commission VI. She started her professional career in 1985 and has been working at FGG since 2003. She contributed in many national and several European projects, recently she has been involved in FP7 Observe. Her research interests are in close range and topographic photogrammetry, high resolution satellite images for topographical data extraction, data quality management in photogrammetric projects, terrestrial and aerial laser scanning.

Dejan Grigillo, Senior Assistant of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, mostly researches application and processing of remote sensing data, especially automatic extraction of man-made objects from aerial and high-resolution satellite imagery. Employed at the Faculty since 1994. Finished PhD in 2010.

Klemen Kozmus Trajkovski is Senior Assistant of Cartography. He has been employed by FGG since 1999, finished his PhD in 2010. His main research topics are indoor navigation and multimedia cartography.
